Howard Huts

Howard Huts is a project initiated by Hannah Jickling as part of an artist residency at the Multnomah Education Service District's Outdoor School.

In collaboration with 6th graders, high school student leaders, outdoor school staff and teachers, Howard Huts will accumulate in the form of forts, huts and other sculptural.site-based experiments on-site at Camp Howard, (near Corbett, Oregon), throughout Outdoor School's six week Fall session.

This project was initiated as a part of ArtODS, a pilot project that will begin to incorporate the arts and creative practices into the existing curriculum and community life at Outdoor School during the Fall of 2011.

ArtODS is being developed by Hannah Jickling and Jennifer Starkey in conversation with Caldera, Friends of Outdoor School, the MESD Outdoor School Staff and the Art and Social Practice MFA Program at Portland State University. The project is generously supported by Friends of Outdoor School, the Gray Family Fund, the Wieden Family Public Fund, and The Starseed Foundation.
